Here I am on Friday after my first week back in school. It has been a real adventure despite the fact that I only have classes on two days. I expected Monday to be a fun day of preparation for school but I cut my finger while preparing lunch and it's still healing. It's going to be just fine but it really messed up my day then. I even had to eat my lunch with my left hand and an entire fillet of fish ended up on the floor. I must confess that I was really worried and freaked out about the wound. Injuries are one of my "wimp areas" and I wasn't even sure what to do at first. I faced some demons in myself and did a lot praying directly and indirectly because of the finger.
Then classes started on Tuesday. I had four in one day and I had to go hunting for textbooks in a very crowded Campus Store during part of my lunch time in the middle of the day. It's a several hour chunk of time but it still wasn't very fun and I'm still waiting for one book that I ordered on the internet. I even went to two separate book stores searching for it and finally turned to Amazon.com.
Wednesday was a Chapel day. My school is a Christian one and requires two semesters of Chapel, which is basically going to a sort of campus led church service on Wednesdays. That was really cool and I think I needed it, despite the fact that my mind often wonders during worship times. I hate that affect of my ADHD (I think that's what causes it anyway) but oddly in those moments where I admitted that I was having trouble focusing, I felt God the most strongly. In our weakness, He is indeed made strong. The rest of the day was homework and book hunting at those stores I mentioned.
Yesterday I had only three classes and had to go to the bank during that long lunch period. It seems that I accidentally used one of my brother's checks for a rather large tithe in church and we had to sort that out. Nothing bad came of it and it was pretty easy to fix but guess what happened while I was at the bank. I stopped in the bathroom before going to talk to a teller and the button came off my pants! I didn't have a belt with me because they'd been pretty tight to begin with so there I was talking to a bank teller and transferring money while hoping that my pants weren't going to fall down. The rest of the day was worrying about money and a road trip my roommate and I are planning. I shouldn't worry; God has been miraculous in matters of money and taking care of me. Oh me of little faith, when will I learn?
And here we are today. I've taken my roommate to the phone store twice (he dropped his regular phone in water) and I've done some reading for class with more to come either tonight or over the weekend. As you can see, my first week back in school has been a very interesting one with lots of ups and downs. I've had lots of stress and a good portion of it was me blowing things out of proportion. I don't suppose there was a big spiritual reason for this post. Just a fun little insight into my life and the surprising things that can draw us to God.
