With two pounds sterling in his grip
Within his vice like hands
Starting upon his virgin trip
To near and far off lands
Would Jesus truly help him now?
Sanction the way before
Yet ere his head and knees could bow
The wind shut tight the door
He stood amazed with eyes as blind
Collecting random thoughts
But then a verse came swift to mind
Amidst The Lord reports
Again he stood as though quite dead
His face seemed drained of blood
Just two small copper coins, he’d read
But yet he understood
Offering first the coins on High
Consulting God the way
He heard The Lord would multiply
Within a single day
He said to knock a certain door
God’s word was prompt obeyed
He gave his coins the man he saw
And heard this accolade
“Come in my house and take a pew
This church has long been blessed
The pastor of these chosen few
Has gone to endless rest
With love you followed each command
By faith God’s word you keep”
