New toys sure are grand
And we’re so excited to get them
Old toys are placed into crates and boxes
thinking they will be there to be played with later
but then are soon forgotten.
What was new then becomes old
and so the cycle continues
Then one day
when we are old and grey
we open those crates and boxes
to see what lies inside . . . and remember
Removed with such excitement
just like when they were new
but much more precious now.
