It seems to me there would be more actual followers of Jesus if they first stopped seeing Him through the eyes of their political leanings, then stop seeing Him through the eyes of their particular faiths within Christianity. Eliminating these worldly leaning 'middlemen' can remove a lot of scales from one's eyes in regards to the Kingdom of God. Mankind prefers to make the Kingdom over in our own image in an attempt to have it both ways.
