This morning I was awake at 4:30 and decided it was a good idea to utilize this momentum for getting caught up on work.
I tend to go through times of unproductive rest, to very quickly bombarding my coworkers with relentless emails and phone calls. Its just how I work. It got me thinking about people that make a huge stir in a short amount of time.
There is a street artist (yes... illegal graffiti) named “Banksy”. For weeks on end you hear nothing about a Banksy art sighting and then, BANG he makes history with yet another awesome and controversial vandalism. Then he is back in hiding for a while. Granted, although his version of vandalism is beautiful and unique it is still illegal. He makes us question how much we actually want to put a stop to artists like him.
If I work best in flashes of brilliant momentum; how am I using it? In other words if I were going to tag a building (Which I am not planning on doing) would I just mark my territory with a can of spray paint or change the perception of what street art is.
I have latched on to one of Banksy’s street art pieces of a rioter in position to throw something (you would assume a rock or even a molotov cocktail). Instead of something destructive the young man is throwing a bouquet of flowers.
If today, I am making a statement, then let it be love. If I am going to riot in the streets let it be for equality and freedom. If I only have a flash in time to make my mark let it be with flowers.
