Til We Have Faces

That's the name of what many regard as the best of C.S.Lewis' many works, paradoxically a pagan story. On internet forums we have to be careful, as this is public. We can pour out our souls, but we have to hide important information. We can tell the truth in a faceless fashion, behind our masks of mysterious identities, and someday all will be exposed, made clear, and everything we have hidden will be exposed. Now we see in a glass darkly, then we will see clearly. We will be clearly seen.

We are behind masks in more than one way. 'Unite my heart to fear Thy Name' comes to mind here also. We are broken vessels, wounded people, gasping fish on land. The earth is not what it should be and it hurts us to live in an alien land, even if it is our home. In order to tell the truth we must lie, not to your face but to your mask. I do not know who I am talking to. We may know each other or be total strangers. For all you know I am a renegade dwarf in a Narnian wood who somehow got hold of a PC with a looooooong power cord. I must deceive you to know you and to be known, and in that deception cradle enough of the truth that what is real does not slip through my fingers onto the floor, which needs vacuuming because I am spending too much time on the internet.
