Too oft, we think there’s nothing wrong
Our lives are quite complete
We sit in church we sing our song
As Jesus’ chosen wheat
The spirit “Self” may think he’s wise!
And lord of all he sees
But though a master of disguise
God’s Son he’ll never please
Man’s wayward flesh plays much the fool
Rebels against The Lord
He’s quick to be the devil’s tool
But not to face the sword
He’ll lie, he’ll steal, he’ll kill and cheat
He’ll fill himself with pride
But till he bows at Jesus’ feet
His guilt he’ll never hide
Our flesh can steal our robes of white
Can take away life’s crown
Can rob the wisest of their sight
And easily bring us down
Even the mighty come to fall
The bravest live in fear
Self obstructs, whom God may call
While death draws ever near
The free could find they’re lost in jail
The quick, as walking dead
He’ll cause the strongest man to fail
The rich to beg for bread
But God’s the “Boat” to freedom’s shore
The “Key” to Satan’s chains
The “Bolt” to close our selfish door
When Christ, we give the reins PTO
