Im a Christian.
That is without a doubt.
I know some people will call this blasphemy, and I am sorry to offend anyone.
I just don’t subscribe to the way that faith is portrayed generally in our society.
I feel that a lot of Christians are missing the point completely. God didn’t create the world from nothing,
Just how it was,
Ready for humans to be added to it.
We know that.
We realize that.
Science has proved that.
The story of Adam and Eve is exactly that.
It’s a story.
How do you explain evolution to someone in the times of the early stages of Christianity?
Imagine not knowing what evolution is.
Not even knowing the concept of it.
Then having a moment of divine inspiration,
however it happened,
and BANG you have got this concept in your head of something that is thousands of years of thinking ahead of you, that you really want to tell EVERYONE
because its awesome.
But how to explain something you don’t understand at all,
but have had a glimpse of,
to people who you know will not understand at all?
You invent a story, in order to explain the information you were given.
Humans originally lived in amongst nature. We know that. Eg the metaphorical garden of eden.
We then “ate the forbidden fruit”
that could be anything.
It could symbolize violence or war,
the beginnings of technology, whatever.
Anything that has in some way had a momentous negative affect on us or our planet.
Weather or not it also brought positives.
The whole thing is a metaphore, someones story, for what actually happened.
This is god we are talking about.
You think science can explain what god knows?
He made science.
He made everything.
Yes he created the human race, but that part took ages.
For us
Not necessarily for him.
He made the heaven and the earth in 7 days.
Cool.
But
a) how long is 7 days for god? When you think about it an afternoon for us is like 24 hours for a dog in terms of life span ratio. What if God was working for a week of his life? That would be so so so so long. In the millions of years.
Or if that doesn’t work for you
b) why would he put us here as we are right now? We are designed to evolve, to create new things in our lives. That’s awesome. That’s why we are here. Every part of every organism is designed to evolve. That’s what everything, flora and fauna, has in common.
Evolve till you are the best you can possibly be in your situation.
And its not like He hasn’t got the time to wait for us to evolve from single celled organisms into what we are now.
And what we can be.
So what we evolved from monkeys, and whatever else before that.
That doesn’t mean god didn’t create us,
That’s just how he decided he wanted to do it.
Because that was the idea.
We can explain it, because as a race we got smart and worked it out.
But when we turn around and say that we are proving god wrong,
by having learned more about the universe and the way everything works,
…
Put yourself in god shoes for a sec, that’s like someone telling you that you, as God, don’t exist because they have figured out evolution.
which was your idea to begin with.
You would say,
“Well done, whoever you are, you worked our exactly what I did, which means you just proved that I do exist.
Do you want a medal?”
What was Jesus here to do when he came to this earth?
That is the question that constantly gets asked.
I believe that he wasn’t here to do anything in particular, but he did have a set of goals and passions that from all accounts drove him while he was here.
Why else do you think he traveled around talking to absolutely everyone he could?
Why did he decide to come hang out with us for a while?
That is the question we need to be asking.
He just wanted to be able to show people that there is a different way to live life that benefits everyone.
He didn’t care if people were poor or rich, male or female, the colour of their skin, sick or healthy, none of that matters.
He just spent the vast majority of his life helping other people.
He just helped everybody, and followed his passions and dreams.
Jesus was an amazing leader.
That is what he did, by all accounts.
Lead and helped people.
The greatest leader of all time.
He has a huge portion of the world
STILL following his words
THOUSANDS of years
AFTER his death.
However
He was leading by example.
That’s it.
People just read too much into his words. <- - - - - past and present tense both intended.
There needs to be less focus on the wow factor of that he performed miracles, which is in itself cool and proved that he was Jesus,
And more focus on the fact that
As much as he could
All of the time
Every day
For his whole life
He was helping other people
And following his own passions
At the same time.
He was here, showing what we all need to do.
That part, most Christians have got right.
If we all did that, there wouldn’t be any issues in the world.
Unfortunately we don’t all do that. So there are issues.
But if even one more person decides to live a life like Jesus did, helping as many people as they can, and following their dreams and ambitions at the same time, the world will be a better place.
And I want that.
So I am trying as hard as I can to be that one person.
And so can you.
Its easy.
Just do it.
That is without a doubt.
