"There comes a time... when you can't escape from the things you've done."
-Commander Adama, Battlestar Galactica
There comes a time when we cannot escape from the things we have done. That our society has done. What has it done?
It has taken away an economy based on things of real worth, and replaced it with a parasitic economy where the "industry" is only money chasing money. An economy based on lies. An economy where very little that is productive is being done.
It has slaughtered the unborn
It has ignored the time bomb ticking under our civilization: energy. We will run out of cheap oil very soon, and no one has prepared for it.
It has been warehousing its elderly.
It has been abusing God's creation.
It has been chasing Money and Self and no longer hears God.
In the Church, there have been false Shepherds everywhere, corruption of the apostolic teaching, people bending God into their own image rather than the other way around, so-called Pastors exalting money and preaching a prosperity gospel.
There is a lack of respect for simple truth and for doing the right thing. Arrogance and corner-cutting abound, resulting in such things as the BP oil spill which devastated the Gulf.
Our society does many other evil things besides. Hearts have grown hard, people have grown selfish and cynical.
Now, what is God's wrath? What is it, exactly? We hear about it in the Bible, so we know it is real, but we also know God loves His creation. So how do we reconcile these facts?
When we rebel against God, when we do what is evil and false, we are not only rebelling against our Creator, we are undermining the very foundations of our own existence. God's wrath is not because God is violent. God's wrath is a natural consequence of cutting ourselves off from Him. From the Life and Truth that only comes from Him.
It is like gravity, don't curse the concrete beneath you if you jump off a building. You can't blame physics for that. Don't blame the environment if you destroy the planet and then don't have enough food to eat or clean air to breathe. God's wrath is like a natural law, and it is just as inexorable.
We (our society) cannot excape forever from the consequences of what it does. Soon, there will be a reckoning, and it will be bad. Compared with it, our little economic dislocation of the past few years will seem like a garden party.
We can expect a "false dawn" over the next few years as the money machines spin up to do damage control. Things will look better, there will even be more jobs. It will all be based on empty lies. It will collapse, just like the economy collapsed in 2008.
Fifteen to twenty-five years from now, things will really start to hit the fan. Wrath will fall on this civilization big-time. We will be out of oil; with an economy empty of any real value; with a Planet Earth that will be striking back against the human infestation that is trying to kill it; and with a social fabric, the bond between people, husbands, wives, sons, fathers, brothers and sisters, that will be shot to absolute hell.
Where this falls in terms of "endtime prophecy" I don't know, I don't believe I am making a prophecy. Its just reading the signs of the times. If you see the skies cloud up, its going to rain. If you see Mankind storing up wrath against itself, it will return to it one day. It's like gravity, it is unavoidable. It isn't God's fault. It is Man's fault.
There comes a time... when you cannot escape from the things you've done.
