The Word of God
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1
“The same was in the beginning with God.”
John 1:2
"All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made."
John 1:3
The Jewish people understood that by God’s Word, the heavens and earth were created. They did not understand that the Word was an actual person.
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

“And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

“By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.”
Psalms 33:4-6
“Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and He that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by Myself;”
Isaiah 44:24
God’s Word is a person who proceeds from the bosom of the Father.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14
“Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:34-35
Many Jews, based on their understanding of certain prophecies, saw the Messiah coming to establish a kingdom in this world.
The knowledge of God’s Son as the coming Messiah was kept a mystery.
“Who has ascended into Heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in His fists? What is His name and what is His Son’s name, if thou canst tell?”
Proverbs 30:4
The Mystery of God
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 1 Cor 2:7-8
“…that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:"
Eph 3:8-9
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
1 Tim 3:16
“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.”

God Came to Earth
"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto Me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."
Micah 5:2
“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Matt 1:20-23
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the mighty God (El Gibbor), the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever…”

“The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God (El Gibbor).”
Isaiah 10:21
Mighty God being translated “El Gibbor”, a name for God when speaking of Jesus in this passage.
“He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.” John 1:10-11
There is a saying: “He was crucified on a cross of wood, yet He made the hill on which it stood”.
