The Sting Has Gone

Most live with fear through all of life
Hating the thought of death
They dread the day it takes its knife
And cuts away their breath

Yet death’s not hard to understand
For those beneath God’s wing
For those within Christ’s healing hand
Who fear no more it’s sting

In truth it’s gone it’s played it’s part
It’s played it’s final role
For with God’s Spirit in our heart
It fails to claim our soul

Who’s heart belongs to God’s on high
When Christ is our desire
We too on earth must one day die
Once self has burned with Fire

But still some query the unknown
When death they come to face
Though Christ is on His glory throne
And though they’re full of grace

No grounds remain to be afraid
No reason for despair
To certain life our debt is paid
What else has faith to care?

For whom by grace receive God’s Son
Become Christ’s righteous wife
For these the sting has truly gone
They’ve passed from death to life

Within Life’s Boat we’ll reach God’s shore
We’ve closed behind death’s gates
With Christ The Key to Heaven’s Door
