The Spiders Web

Once flies, upon a summer jaunt
Receive a welcome sight
They‘ll land within a spider’s haunt
Which robs their hope of flight

Glistening dewdrops lure them oft
Their sight gives such a thrill
Believing nectar, from aloft
They’ll swoop, to drink their fill

Few flies escape when thus enticed
When webs with dewdrops cling
They’re just like fools, who hear of Christ
Who’ll still reject their King

The world must learn the fly’s mistake
Must learn of hell’s disguise
Remain well clear, of Satan’s lake
Or end like foolish flies

The jaws of hell, are gaping wide
With titbits; by the score
Luring man to walk inside
Beyond the spider’s door

One day we’re here, the next we’re dead
For flies, the dye is cast
Beware! The sticky road ahead
Could hold us also fast

We need someone, to guide the way
There’s so much yet to know
We need more strength, to win the day
Against the cunning foe

Not always, is a web to see
How swift we’re caught and bound
We need God’s Arm to keep us free
