The Raging of Nations

Thursday, June 18, 2009, 4:19 a.m. – I woke to this song:

I Will Rise / Chris Tomlin

There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say "It is well"

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles' wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"

I also woke from A DREAM: There was an older (unmarried) couple who decided to get married and then they split up – think it was out of fear that they split. So, we were trying to get them back together.

We were at a swimming place (like an oversized swimming pool) and had been out in the sun for awhile. I looked over my shoulder at my back and saw that my back was sunburned. I, evidently, did not (or failed to) put on sunscreen. At the right of the pool was this woman. South of the pool on a peninsula that went part way into the pool was me. The other people came from the northwest and southwest of the pool.

I started to go back into the water. I saw that other people were getting or had gotten into the water and some had gotten quite far in when I began to slowly step into the water. I was standing at the edge of the water on some stairs or on a gradual declining slope that would take me into the water one step at a time. Just then we were informed that it wasn’t time to get into the water, so we had to wait. We were premature in trying to get back into the pool before it was time.

Then, the woman who had separated from her fiancé said that she was ready to go, so we went with her to meet her fiancé in hopes we could get them back together. We were then at a restaurant, I believe. The woman had a purse with some medicine in it, including some vitamins. She asked me for her vitamin, so I got it for her. There was something here about combining her things with other stuff related to this relationship with her fiancé, in preparation for their being reunited. It looked like newspaper that I added to her newspaper. I think I added something to her purse, too.

I got the impression that the woman was blind. She got up to go somewhere and she counted all her steps and turns so that when she returned she could find her way back to her seat or to the table. Also, she didn’t see what I did with her purse and/or with the newspaper.

We had visited previously Providence church. This church had a drawer in their church nursery under the crib, I believe, and the drawer was filled with money. People could take whatever they needed, but there was a sense that there were strings attached. In other words, it wasn’t the “free” money that they thought it was.

Anyway, this woman became aware of this “free money” and so she thought she would use some of it for her wedding, but I cautioned her about it. I did say there were good things about the people of that church, but there was also a sense that they would hold it against someone, particularly an outsider, if one took some of the “free money” but did not pay it back. END

Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening. I read Isaiah 17 and 18:

An oracle concerning Damascus:
"See, Damascus will no longer be a city
but will become a heap of ruins.
2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted
and left to flocks, which will lie down,
with no one to make them afraid.
3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim,
and royal power from Damascus;
the remnant of Aram will be
like the glory of the Israelites,"
declares the LORD Almighty.
4 "In that day the glory of Jacob will fade;
the fat of his body will waste away.

5 It will be as when a reaper gathers the standing grain
and harvests the grain with his arm—
as when a man gleans heads of grain
in the Valley of Rephaim.
6 Yet some gleanings will remain,
as when an olive tree is beaten,
leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches,
four or five on the fruitful boughs,"
declares the LORD, the God of Israel.
7 In that day men will look to their Maker
and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
8 They will not look to the altars,
the work of their hands,
and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles
and the incense altars their fingers have made.

9 In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation.
10 You have forgotten God your Savior;
you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress.
Therefore, though you set out the finest plants
and plant imported vines,
11 though on the day you set them out, you make them grow,
and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud,
yet the harvest will be as nothing
in the day of disease and incurable pain.

12 Oh, the raging of many nations
they rage like the raging sea!
Oh, the uproar of the peoples—
they roar like the roaring of great waters!
13 Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters,
when he rebukes them they flee far away,
driven before the wind like chaff on the hills,
like tumbleweed before a gale.
14 In the evening, sudden terror!
Before the morning, they are gone!
This is the portion of those who loot us,
the lot of those who plunder us.

Isaiah 18: A Prophecy Against Cush
1 Woe to the land of whirring wings
along the rivers of Cush, 2 which sends envoys by sea
in papyrus boats over the water.
Go, swift messengers,
to a people tall and smooth-skinned,
to a people feared far and wide,
an aggressive nation of strange speech,
whose land is divided by rivers.
3 All you people of the world,
you who live on the earth,
when a banner is raised on the mountains,
you will see it,
and when a trumpet sounds,
you will hear it.

4 This is what the LORD says to me:
"I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place,
like shimmering heat in the sunshine,
like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."
5 For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone
and the flower becomes a ripening grape,
he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives,
and cut down and take away the spreading branches.
6 They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey
and to the wild animals;
the birds will feed on them all summer,
the wild animals all winter.
7 At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty
from a people tall and smooth-skinned,
from a people feared far and wide,
an aggressive nation of strange speech,
whose land is divided by rivers—
the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty.
