The Price Was Paid
"My God, My God!" He cried aloud.
Below His mother stood in the crowd.
The sky grew dark; the earth did quake.
The world didn't see their own mistake.
The nails that held His hands and feet
To that cruel cross brought love so sweet.
The blood that came from His pierced side;
Then, "It is finished," the Saviour cried.
There were many tears that fell that day,
And many hearts did bow to pray.
The crowd, it turned and walked away;
Some never knowing the price was paid that day.
The gates were opened for all, not some.
They turned not knowing whence they had come.
The brightest star was lit that day,
When Jesus to His Father for our souls did pray.
Even now man fails to see
The message of Mount Calvary.
The time will come and it's very near,
When all the earth His voice will hear.
He's coming back to claim His own,
For the Bible tells what should be known.
The knees will bow, the heart will break,
For God sent Jesus for our souls' sake.
