How many of us know that we are called to be a light unto this world ? Beacons of Gods love chosen to shine bright, as we pierce through the darkness and illuminate the path ( Christ Jesus) that leads to God. Think of the old light house whose purpose is to shine out at night towards the sea to guide ships safely to port so they would not be lost to the perils of the ocean. Our world is much the same and God gives us countless examples to those who will open there eyes and seek. Many of us our much like ships floating around in the darkness with no guiding light no hope of salvation and unaware to the dangers that lie ahead. we become comfortable living in the darkness captain of our own vessels accountable to know one. We are our own gods Happily serving our selves as we sail blindly through these waters underneath the dim light of the moon and unaware of the disaster that lies just ahead. We Christians are the light houses of this world (philip 2:14-15, “Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world) and in order for our light houses to perform at an optimum level they need to be kept up and in good working order. We need not to be arguing amongst ourselves complaining all the time we must reach a maturity in Christ and keep ourselves unspotted from the world. Our lenses should be clean free of dirt and grime always ready to be inspected and inspected we will be. Its the power of conviction of the Holy Spirit that reaches deep and pierces the hearts of men and when people find fault in our light it becomes weak and instead of feeling conviction they receive justification and justification is much easier then change. We are afraid of change we dont like being told we are wrong we want to live in our own little worlds where we control everything and everything is just fine the way we like it. So we must keep our light houses maintained at all times that we may shine bright. Beware There are people out there who will try and steal your light! I know this is true in my life and i witness it every day especially amongst new believers we struggle so much to fit God into our everyday routines as we do the same things we did go the same places we go and hang around the same friends. We have problems letting go of the past out of a bond that we have shared with these people. The problem is when we continue to place ourselves in these same conditions surrounding ourselves with temptations amongst friends who freely indulge in there sins. They see the light in you and seek that justification. They want to enjoy themselves and not feel convicted by your presence so they will entice you and tempt you to engage in these activities that the power of conviction is lost and your light goes out. Sadly its not too hard to be be persuaded when dealing with a close group of friends and at the end of the day the only one left feeling Gods conviction is you. Have you ever been out in the darkness and had someone keep pointing a falsh light in your face. it hurts your eyes and is very aggravating. Most of us dont want anyone messing around in our world i mean who wants there deeds exposed. No one wants to feel guilty and if guilt or conviction is absent we excuse ourselves to do what ever we feel is alright. We see only what we want to, so carrying around that light starts causing an awful lot of trouble- john 3:19-21) and if possible they can steal it they will. As hard as it is we must let go for now and trust God is in control leaving all things behind us moving forward in Christ to reach our full potentials. The world is full of darkness and many people are out there searching for just one single ray of Gods light. So shine bright friends God bless you all
