The Original Selfies

Christians like to narrow things down, yet confuse issues. Just as many like to reject the notion of taking personal responsibility for our actions and instead blame everything on an evil angel, Christian mankind also narrows down blame, for instance that the Jews rejected Jesus (God) to protect their own self-interest. True, but that is but one speed bump of many others that we refuse to admit to, as it may mean we too are guilty of rejecting the will of God. There is a bigger picture and it involves all of us.

The entire Bible and the history of mankind is about how man continually rejects the will of the Father for the will of man, putting our will ahead of His. Hence the sin of self... self awareness, self interest, self justification, self determination and so on. It was self interest that got Adam and Eve kicked out of the Garden because Eve put her own interest/desire ahead of the will of God and it became the first rebellion, the original sin. Every time the people in the Bible who were chosen to represent mankind screwed up, it was due to putting their will ahead of the will of God. That is in the Bible, but we are all guilty.

This entire world which we have created in our own image runs on the principle of self. Jesus could be seen as a revolutionary because He presented us with a counter-culture to the traditional ways of mankind. It appealed to those who were under the oppression of fellow man, men who used the principle of self to gain at the expense of others. Hence His immediate disciples were the poor, slaves and servants, and women. It did not appeal to authourity who thrived on the principle of self interest and the power it afforded them. As a result He ran into a little flack.

The same applies in the world today and the same reaction would occur if He had come now instead of then... more so. If His Gospel of the Kingdom instead of another was taught today in all nations, the world just like back then would be split over which allegiance to make, the will of man or the will of God.

If the counter-culture once practised by the people had not been hidden away, to be found only in the scripture (that was ironically also hidden away from the people), this whole ballgame might have been over millennia ago. If 'official' Christianity hadn't turned away from the Kingdom 1700 years ago and had not put their will ahead of God's (take that "chosen" people, we others can screw up too), rejecting God's Kingdom to build their own and align themselves with the governance of man rather than the governance of God, then things might have been different. No such luck and the Gospel of the Kingdom to all nations was rejected for another to cover the rebellion of Gentile Christianity. That Gospel of the Kingdom however will still be spread to all nations someday as Jesus said it would be so. Christianity simply needs to get back on track and teach the right Gospel.

So yes the world would likely kill the Messiah today also, but that ship has already sailed thus man including institutional Christianity will fight Him once more when He returns, mankind not having made the decision to turn from putting our will ahead of the will of God, hence not repenting of (changing) our ways. Just a reminder... no room in the Kingdom for those who rebel against it.
