Okay, so it's that time again, and no matter how the die falls America will be in undiscovered grounds, as one barrier or another is removed from how we consider someone fit to lead this country. That's a plus to me, because limiting a whole class of people from consideration is foolish. It is on the individual's merits our choice should be made, not foolish misconceptions on race or sex.
I hope people remember that whoever is President is important, but it's also the lawmakers in Congress that matter. The greatest president in the world is totally ineffective without a Congress behind him or her, and unless you've been living under a rock you should realize it will take all the government to get through the times we are in and those to come. Research and vote well in ALL elections before you, my friends.
Another point: smear tactics are in use on all sides, but as Christians we should avoid anything that sems to align us with this foolishness. (Oh, and if we know but say nothing, we're just as to blame, so sitting quiet is no excuse, either) I despise the immediate attack on Gov. Palin's character when she was nominated - stick to issues, people. And the objectivity of the media is at question when a seated President received less abuse when accused of fraud and adultery while in office.
Lastly, I worry about a climate of fear overwhelming reason in this season. Scared people do stupid things, and we will shed cherished principles when things look bleak, and often the damage can never be undone. God is always in the mix, and who wins or loses matters little. Let the heart of this nation be turned to God, and let us be true to Him, and there is nothing to fear.
Thanks for your time.
