The Loss of a dear friend

This person is not passed away, they are very much alive and was going through the motions of being a Christian, and loving partner. But the dangers of the internet and chat sites lured her in, it was so subtle she claims first asked if she wanted to see a picture of the person she was talking to, then deeper and deeper she sank, soon she was getting phone calls, and email. She asked for help to keep if only to explain what was going on with her life.
It was agreed that I would work with her but she would have to agree to do as I asked her to, I fully believe she only “went through the lip service” and never did as she was told. Isn’t that like a lot of us? We go to church every Sunday, we sit in the pew, or seat, we stand and sing the songs, we shake hands with those around us, and we listen to the pastor with complete attention, some of us even take notes.
After we shake hands with the preacher, tell him what a great sermon he gave, and we go home and put our Bible in its place of honor, usually on the book shelf or coffee table or our nightstand until needed again either for Bible study or for the following Sunday where we will do the same thing all over again.
But why? Why do we go through the motions of going to church? Why do waste the Pastors time? He works diligently on a sermon through the week, answering our phone calls, visiting us in the hospital, doing our funerals for our families. There are so many churches in the world today most built because someone disagreed with something the Pastor or church did, He wasn’t right! The church chastised me because….. But did you listen to the warnings? Did we read the Bible and find out why? Most of you reading this would care less about what cults are out there today. But there is a few who may knock at your door and tell you that your Bible isn’t enough. Or that their Bible is the one true word of God. Would you be able to show them where they are wrong? Or would you be convinced that their Bible is the companion to the Holy word of God? How many of you actually read the scriptures the Pastor gives in his sermon? Do you look them up? Do you compare his word to Gods? Or do you just accept it as truth?
Saint’s I know the world is tough right now, I know many of you are struggling to put food on your table, cloth your children, and make the monthly bills. Trust me I’m right there with you, But there is coming a time when you may have to either denounce Christ or lose your life. The time is near, oh so near, we do not know the time or the hour but it is close. As in the days of Noah so shall the return of the son of man be. (Luke 17:26 – 27). I don’t know about you saints but I look forward to the day, and with the saints of old ask “How long oh Lord?”
