I wrote the short meditation below, after reading Psalm 26, with a special look
at the beginning of verse 11: “But as for me, I will walk in my integrity…”
I end some lines by citing a verse I was focusing on.
At the beginning of Psalm 26, we could easily think that David sounds rather
cocky and self-righteous. Verse 1 starts with, "Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked
in my integrity." Our opinion shifts when we consider that David knew Who was
watching over him and how this changed him.
Could not we, of the New Covenant, benefit by “walking in the light as He is in the
light”*--and being just as boastful, if not more?
“My” integrity is what is before my eyes: [v11]
Your lovingkindness, testing my heart and my mind. [v2,3]
This is your gift to me as I walk in your truth, [v.3]
Therefore, Lord, without wavering, I have trusted You. [v.1]
The curtain torn before the altar, I stand in blessed innocence,** [v.6]
Washed by the Blood, life from Jesus’ crucifixion.
At this altar I proclaim, “I love where your glory dwells”. [v.8]
We are that holy temple, where integrity excels.+
You are my integrity, your Image conquers self.++
