The Importance of God's WORD!

The Importance of God's WORD!
I am amazed at how many Christians don't read, don't study, and don't know or even care to know God's Word! How can you be a Christian and not ever read your Bible? Is it because it is convicting you or something? I mean it is really astonishing...

If you claim to love Jesus, then how come you don't equally love His Word? The Bible says Jesus IS the Word!

In order to be a VICTORIOUS Christian you are gonna need the WORD of GOD to do it. There is no victory apart from God's Word, and I do not apologize for saying it.

As much perversion and sin that is in the land, we need the Word. We need TRUTH. If you are truly committed to Jesus and I mean TRULY sold out to Him, then you're gonna need some keeping power. That power is only gonna come from the Word of God.

He HASTENS His Word to PERFORM it (Jer.1:12). Is anybody here looking for God to perform His Word? And manifest what He's promised you? Then you're gonna need to get FILLED with the Word of God and proclaim it daily. You cannot confess what you don't know! And surely you can't believe it if you never read it... Faith comes by HEARING! And hearing by the Word of God. That means you need the Word! AND not only that, but you need the PREACHED Word of God as well. Stop thinking you're a lone ranger out here! It's not wise, especially when God declares us to be a BODY made up of MANY MEMBERS.

Some Facts about the Word:

#1:

The Word and the Spirit AGREE. They do not contradict each other. His Spirit will never reveal something to you that is contrary to His Word, because they are in agreement with each other. ALL revelation apart from God's Word is supposed to agree with the Word line upon line, precept upon precept. God, the Father moves in the earth realm through His Spirit according to His Word. They all agree, and they all are One. The Father is the giver of the Word, Jesus is the Word, and the Holy Spirit ACTS upon the Word. The Trinity is NOT 1+1+1=3. It is 1x1x1=1

Proof:

1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, AND the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

#2:

The Word of God is what changes us, renews our minds, and transforms us. It separates the carnal from the spirit, and exposes what is REALLY in our hearts. The heart is desperately wicked. Only God can know it and expose it, and He does it through the Word. That's why you need the Word if you truly desire to live pure for God.

Proof:

Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

#3:

The Word of God serves as a source of direction for our lives. God uses His Word to guide us in our daily affairs and to help us make godly decisions. God desires to be involved in our decision-making. He wants us to come to Him and acknowledge Him ESPECIALLY before making major decisions. He wants to lead us and guide us not just spiritually, but in natural affairs as well.

Proof:

Psalm 119:105
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:133
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

#4:

The Holy Spirit operates in a believer's life according to the Word that is in them, because the Word of God is what feeds our faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God. If you are a true born-again believer then you strive daily to be pleasing to Him, but according to His Word you cannot do this if you are 'low' on Word.

Proof:

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

#5:

The Bible instructs us to be LIVING EPISTLES. How can we be living epistles if we don't read the written epistles? You have to instill the Word in you, in order to live it day-by-day.

Proof:

2 Corinthians 3:2-3
2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: 3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

The Scripture also shows the importance of the Holy Spirit in the believer's life. It uses this analogy: We are the epistles, and the Holy Spirit is the ink to the epistles. That is why you need the Holy Ghost. You need to be endowed with power, so you can live right before the Lord.

#6:

God gives the Word to His sowers (preachers of the Gospel) and they sow that Word into our hearts, and it is supposed to bring forth fruit in our lives. Stop thinking you don't need a preacher! The Bible says otherwise.

Proof:

Ephesians 4:11-12

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

Matthew 13: 23
But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Isaiah 55:10-11
10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

#7:

God's Word SANCTIFIES us. Ooooh, how we don't wanna hear that word! But we need to be sanctified, washed with TRUTH. God's Word commands it, not suggests it... God desires that we live holy even as He is holy. It is the truth that makes us free. His Word is Truth.

Proof:

John 17:17
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Psalm 119:9
Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

#8:

We are admonished by God to read AND study the Word of God. It has such great benefits that you should wanna read it anyway.. One of those benefits is producing fruit in the believer's life, which is what I previously touched on in #6. It is all tied together and connected to the Word.

Proof:

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Psalm 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Psalm 119 is a great chapter to read, because it emphasizes the importance of God's Word. It basically sums up everything I'm saying here.

I did not intend for this to be a teaching, but that is what it turned into. I just truly, truly love God's Word and the truth that is in it. Everyone should have a zeal for the Word of God. It should always set you on fire and make you hunger and thirst after righteousness.

The Church needs to get back to just simply teaching the Word of God and stop trying to be so intellectual. We are not running institutions and organizations. It is the House of God. That's why we have so many false teachings, and heresies, and New Age teachings that are being embraced, because nobody wants to teach the simple, saving Word of God. It is the Word of FAITH that we preach. GET BACK TO THE BIBLE AND PREACH THE WORD! like the scriptures command you to. It is that simple child-like faith that saves us... When we move away from that, we move away from sound doctrine.

I extracted the following passage from a devotional I received last week in my inbox. It is powerful:

Proverbs 4:20-23 says: (20) My son give attention to my words, [That means to tend to the Word, read and study it.] incline your ear to my sayings [That means to continue to hear the Word because faith comes by hearing.] (21) Do not let them depart from your eyes [That means you can't afford to take your eyes off the Word. Even some strong Christians have taken their eyes off of the Word and have gone down to the level of their feelings and they found themselves messed up.] Keep them in the midst of your heart [The Word is what you keep in the midst of your heart by meditating on it, thinking about it, and doing it. If you follow this advice, I believe it will keep you from falling into those issues and situations that will cause you misery.] (22) For they are life to those who find them [You want real life, there is no life apart from Jesus Christ or apart from His Word.] And health to all their flesh. (23) Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life. If you don't keep or protect your heart with all diligence, those old issues will flare up time and time again.

God bless you,
