Ancient scripture, both Hebrew and Christian, remains relevant today simply because the nature of man does not want to change, and as a result remains so predictable. It seems to me the Bible from beginning to end has God showing man the benefit of change from the original indiscretion, while man throughout seems determined to do it man's way.
Rather than focus on that change to the will of God which He has requested, mankind seems to have made it their mission to instead perfect self justification by finding greater philosophies/theologies to convince themselves that their ways are God's ways. So predictable. So self-destructive.
