The writer of the Gilmore Girls-- as weird as she is (her interviews with that strange top hat...) -- was a genius. Yes, I know, it's a waste of my precious time on earth to be entertained by a silly TV show for hours on end. It's like watching a social experiment that I can't get enough of.
For one, watching how the writers cleverly add certain lines that make it so we slowly like or dislike characters For instance, when they decided it was time for some more drama and Dean had to leave, he suddenly became more and more interested in being with Rory all the time, and always bringing up the downer subjects, and Jess was suddenly very nice to Rory and was starting to do some good things. When that didn't turn out quite how they wanted because they frankly did too good of a job making people fall in love with Dean (who could blame us Dean lovers? I mean, Jared Paledecki is probably one of the best looking men around), they quickly made Jess disappear. The first time I watched all this, being the ridiculous girl that I am, I just played along, acting as though Rory was real and this was her life story and it was fun to get involved. But when I finally stepped back and realized it was just great writing, it was even more entertaining to see these amazing actors and actresses do their thing and the writers pulling out so many references and great one liners that I can't even count.
As for the ending of the last season (which I've watched only twice, unlike the others that I've watched many times) I don't think it was bad at all.
If you are a Gilmore Girls watcher, you may be under the impression that the ending was rushed. They used the last two episodes to really tie things together, I thought. And Rory was never going to marry Logan, the writers made it obvious many times with the numerous "she's too young to get married" lines (which always annoyed me). If the show would have ended with Lorelai getting married to Luke it would be too much closure and there are still people hoping for Christopher, or even for Max Medina (Max... Medina... Maaaax Medina.. . haha!!)
THe beginning of the show was about Lorelai making it on her own and Rory taking over the world (in a matter of speaking) and they did that. And everyone got what they really wanted in the end.
Alright that's enough for that rant!~
