And who will lead this parade?
The 50-year olds?
Hardly!
From an article in "The Economist": "Why focus on these late teens and twentysomethings?" Because they are the first young who are both in a positions to change the world, and are actually doing so...For the first time in history, children are more comfortable, knowledgeable, and literate than their parents about innovation central to society. The Internet has triggered the first industrial revolution in history to be led by the young."
Innovation guru Michael Schrage calls "all this" the Age of Ageism : "The real innovator's dilemma isn't the threat of "disruptive technologies": it's the relentless rise of these quasi-adolescents who wield them."
I will say, and I do routinely:
THIS IS A YOUNG PERSON'S CRUSADE.
I am curious. But the most curious person I know is 33 years my senior. Namely, my mom, age 95. So I believe that we "old farts" can be curious as the dickens.
But that's not the point. There is something that I...cannot...be. Namely : Naive! The great physicist and Nobel Laureate richard Feynman said it was nocoincidence that virtually all major discoveries in physics were made by those under the age of 25. Here's why: When you're under 25, Feynman concluded, you don't know what you don't know....
YOUTH WILL DOMINATE THIS NEW TECHNOLOGY.
Which means:
YOUTH WILL DOMINATE THE NEW ECONOMY.
Among the New Youth entering the World's Work Force, we are discovering---praise be!---a New Attitude. And it's an attitude not likely to be quashed, for more than a whisker of time, by the uncertaintlies of the current economy. Those uncertainties are, after all, directly driven by the chaos/mess associated with introducing so many ... Truly Transforming Technologies...at once.
It is the Age of Intellectual Capital. It is the Age of Curiosity Rewarded. ( Rather than .... Compliance Demanded. ) We need peope who, from the start, will ... Talk Back. Who are ... Determined to Get Ahead ... fast. Who are ... Unimpressed ... by the recalcitrate of the corporate bureaucracries they run up against. Who are determined to ... Make a Dent in the Universe.....

May these Youthful Revolutionaries overturn us with great dispatch !"
