Most Christians today suffer from an IDENTITY crisis! They may speak many truths about God and may know his word, but are still unbelievers and don't know who they are!
Mark 9:23-24 KJV Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Many Christians are at the Jordan not willing to enter the promise land for they doubt that it is available to them! They are still wandering in the wilderness (struggling through life) looking for God to do something, when he has already given them everything they need to conquer their giants. So many are caught up looking for what God is gonna do that they spend their life waiting on God and hoping to be with Jesus, someday in glory, that they totally miss the abundant life that Jesus came to give them.
Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
I could good on and on, but God wants us to know who we are! He seperated us from our past at the death, burial, and resurrection! Remember your past doesn't define who you are, Jesus defined you. He defined you as a Righteous Son of God!
Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Phi 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
1Jn 3:1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Phi 2:5-6 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God We are the sons of god!
We are more than conquerers! We can do all things thru Christ! It is Gods will that we be manifest sons of God and we live out his life in the Earth and reveal him for all the world to see! The New Earth (the outward expression) can't be seen until the New Heaven (the inward reality, Christ in us) is revealed!
The identity of most Christians is still based on them, if they are good enough, do enough, and say the right things! Our true identity comes from who he (Christ) is and what he has done. There is nothing we can do to add to it or take anything away from it! We are completed, made whole, made righteous, and healed by the finished work of Christ! Only when we let him live through us can our true identity be revealed as a son of God!
