The Changing Bride

The state of man, is not God’s fault
His endless love is sure
He longs to season each with salt
And bring through Christ our cure

But till the cross this world can see
The pain, Christ chose to bear
The way stays blocked to set her free
Eternal life to share

She’s too content in running wild
Content to live in sin
Content to bear the devil’s child
Through waywardness within

The church of Christ must show the way
Reveal the devil’s lies
Make known the love of God today
And open wide her eyes

How can the church bring change about?
Reform the devil’s harlot?
Spread seeds of faith to vanquish doubt?
And lead to Heaven’s door?

She first must know she’s Jesus’ bride
That God resides within
Who’s Kingdom now that’s deep inside
Has come to combat sin

It’s come through Christ her sovereign Lord
Through Jesus Holy Flame
Through sinless blood her Saviour poured
On all who’ll bear His name

The power’s hear the power’s now
Through grace of God’s true Son
His bride can make the devil bow
