1 Timothy 5:8
Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, an especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
This passage means a lot to me because I love my family so much. The Lord has blessed me with the most amazing family in world. If anyone in my family ever needed anything I would open my heart and my doors to them. They have done so much for me I feel I would owe them something.
It my personal dream to live in a huge house with my grandparents, my parents, my future husband’s parents and grandparents and to have massive feasts for Christmas and Thanksgiving and Easter. I believe that house does not become a home until there is a loving family in it and I would want nothing more than to have my entire family with me everyday.
Not everyone has this dream and not everyone has the family I have. To those who have families that are less than stellar I would like to just encourage you to think of the positive qualities and the positive people in your family. Maybe everyone in your family is a pain but your best friend in the world is your cousin. If that cousin needed something would you open your home to him or her? I would hope so. That one person is your first step to the rest of the family. Next maybe you have an uncle who isn’t so bad have him over for tea. Then your grandma is really sweet when she wants to be so making her favorite cookies and have her over. Before you know it you will have your entire family over for the holidays and you are the glue to bring all the crazy together. Don’t you think Jesus would really admire and appreciate that? I think he would.
Family is often very difficult to deal with, even when you like them, so always remember that your father in heaven wants you to give to your family everything because they have done so much for you.
Dear Lord,
Thank you for my family. You have blessed me with many loved ones and I ask that in their time of need you give me the resources and the strength to support them.
