That You May Do It

In my last blog post, "Christ - The Bridge to Life", we see the parallels between Deuteronomy 30:14,19 and Romans 8:8-10, sanctification and confession unto salvation emphasized, respectively. Concerning the Deuteronomy passage, we see the beginning of a mandate that finds a full expression in the “Great Commission” that Jesus gave to His disciples and the Church:

Deuteronomy 30:14,19Matthew 28:18-20
14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live
18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
In Messiah Jesus’ authority over Heaven and Earth (Matthew 28:18), His fulfilling the Law accomplished two things: (1) the “that you may do it” of Dt 30:14 was given an amplified clarification of divine purpose in Matthew 28:19-20 (2) "heaven and earth" shifted from being “witnesses against” (Deuteronomy 30:19) to God’s showcase for the authority Jesus granted His followers as His witnesses to all humanity, they all the while relying on Jesus' promise of "I am with you always".

Postscript: the finality of (2) above will be the ultimate ingathering of Jewish followers of Yeshua*, as Romans 11:25-26 affirms.**
__________
* Yeshua the original Aramaic and Hebrew name for Jesus
** …and as prophesied in Jeremiah 16:15-16 Isaiah 60:8-9

The Scriptures cited are from the NKJV. Their bold and underlined text are mine.
