I prayed and prayed for a way to be able to give Brent something amazing for his birthday. I have no way of buying him anything so it was basically in God's hands. Last night I found an ad for a free basketball hoop. Him being the sports fanatic he is I jumped at the opportunity. Its in pretty rough shape, but I already weaved him a net for it and I just need to repaint the backboard. It's going to be a basketball themed hat rack. He mentioned a few weeks ago that he wanted a hat rack too. This morning on my way to go pick it up I noticed I was completely out if gas. And the dude said he already put the hoop on the street, so I had to hurry. I stopped and got $2.24 (all i had) in gas and rushed over. The pole was about 20 feet and much too heavy. I didn't have any tools to detach the hoop and the bolts were on tight. I dug through my car searching for a wrench or a screw driver, finding none. Finally I just grabbed a penny and stuck it in the little slot and gave it a twist. The rust creaked, but they all came off with nothing more than a penny. God answers prayers. Even in non-life threatening situations. God cares about the things we care about. I got the hoop home, (just barely coasted in)cleaned it up and realized just how perfect this gift is for him. I still need to paint it and figure a way to hang it in our house but God has brought me this far. He won't abandon me now.
I'm so excited to be giving the man God gave me the hoop God helped me find.
