Syro-Aramaic rendering of sura 19.23

Incorrect exegesis of quranic scripture has led to incomprehensible sura. Syro-Aramaic was the lingua franca from which the qur'an took many of its words.

Consider the Syro-Aramaic rendering of the Koran for a better understanding.

Regarding the Sura on Mary; here is the standard rendering.
Sura 19.23 "...I wish I had been dead before all this!" 24. "but a voice cried to her from below, 'do not worry, your Lord has provided a stream at your feet'"... 28. 'Sister of Aaron, Your father was not an evil man, your mother was not a prostitute."

Arabic commentators say Mary was hungry and cried out but this interpretation does not fit the context.

Compare now with the Syro-Aramaic rendering of 19.24 "Then he called to her Immediately after her Delivery: 'do not be sad, your Lord has made your delivery legitimate.'"

In this context, Mary was saddened by the birth of an illegitimate child. In addition, the people called it illegi
timate in 19.28. This rendering fits the context of the surrounding ayat (verses).
