In deciding Jesus is Lord, we too will also put the will of the Father ahead of our own just as He did. Unless we share the same will, it is impossible for the Father to interact with us as we are nothing but adversaries (little satans by Hebrew definition) when pursuing our own will. The will of man seeks self fulfillment while the will of God says we should care for all others.
It's a shame that progressive churches at one time in history took it upon themselves to reject the will of God and His Kingdom and rejoin the world by marrying up with (more accurately whoring itself to) a government of man, that being the Roman Empire which of course was the epitome of human will. With that power came dominance over the churches who did not follow, resulting in their elimination until today that original truth of His will be done is lost except for in scripture, and rarely in the pulpit.
