Sunday lesson, for Aug 25

Living For tomorrow.

We often hear the saying that we should live for taoday. But is this realy what God wants us to do? I am not accustomed to reciting portions of the bible, but

Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Mathew 6:31-34

This verse to me rings differently than other people hear it.
To me it means like it says to seek God, and then things will be given to you that you need. And seeking God means you live for tomorow. For the promises ahead. God has amazing things to offer us. But often times in our full throttle world we donot receive them. Were moving to fast, concerned with the things of today and right now. Rather than what is ahead in our lives. Indeed the bible says that we should not be concerned with tomorow. But it never said not to be prepared with things for our future. All of us have a future meeting scheduled with God. Its up to us to be prepared for that meeting. It could be as soon as right now. Or a long time from now. We must be ready at all times.

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
1Peter 5:8
