The Lord sends His messengers forth to preach His words of life and spirit to the churches. Will we recognize His visit for the Son of man comes at an hour we do not expect? He will come in the words spoken by “strangers” who will have Christ within them. Like the 2 disciples Jesus met along the road to Emmaus, He will first appear as a “stranger”. We are to remember to entertain strangers.
Luke 24:13-16 KJV
(13) And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
(14) And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
(15) And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
(16) But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
They will be His messengers through whom Jesus expounds all of the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
Luke 24:27-32 KJV
(27) And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
(28) And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
We are to hear and receive Him. Blessed are those who will give “meat” in due season to the “strangers” whom the Lord sends out to preach what the Spirit is saying.
(29) But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
(30) And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
(31) And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
(32) And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
Let him that hears say “come”. Invite the stranger to speak…..for it will be Jesus who will have sent that messenger to testify of the things of God in the churches. Receive the words of the strangers sent by Him.
Revelation 22:16-17 KJV
(16) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
(17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
He that will hear hears the One who sent him. But those who will despise the messengers, will be despising those who are sent to them.
Luke 10:16 KJV
(16) He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.
How will one respond to the “strangers” who will come forth to preach to them Jesus? He that is unjust, let him be unjust still and he that is filthy, let him be filthy still and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
Revelation 22:11-12 KJV
(11) He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
His reward is with Him to give every man according as his work shall be. How will men respond to the preaching of the strangers? How they respond shall be their “work” which shall have a reward for the good and the bad.
(12) And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
Blessed are they that DO His commandments. When one hears the Word of Truth, blessed are those who will show love to the brothers who will be sent out to preach to the churches the Word of Truth. Let him that is righteous, be righteous still.
Revelation 22:14-15 KJV
(14) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
But without are those who will behave badly in their reception of the Word of Truth.
(15) For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Diotrephes will not receive the brothers who will be sent to the churches. They who love to be first among men shall not receive the “strangers”. They will not do His commandments at the most critical time.
3 John 1:9-11 KJV
(9) I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
He will come quickly and give them their reward for He will remember their works which they will do….prating against Word of Truth and not receiving the brothers who will have been sent by Him to them.
(10) Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
Do not be led astray with the wicked who will speak malicious words against the Word of Truth.
(11) Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
Do not follow their “pernicious ways” who will teach others to contradict the Lord that bought them. He will remember their works.
2 Peter 2:1-22 KJV
(1) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
Do not follow that which is evil…..for he that does evil has not seen God. God is love and He will send His messengers out to the churches. They will be “strangers” and many will not believe in their words and will follow after the Diotrepheses of the church and revile them.
(2) And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
(3) And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.
Without….in the darkness…shall be those who will behave badly.
(4) For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
(5) And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
(6) And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
(7) And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
(8) (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds
(9) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
They will be reserved in the darkness unto the day of Judgment to be punished for their evil behavior as they will continue to walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and will despise His government and those who will be sent as His representatives to the churches. They will not be afraid to speak evil of the brothers who will be sent to them.
(10) But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
(11) Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
(12) But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;
(13) And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
(14) Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
(15) Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
(16) But was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man's voice forbad the madness of the prophet.
(17) These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
(18) For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
Do not be led astray after their pernicious ways…
(19) While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
(20) For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
(21) For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
(22) But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Luke 24:13-16 KJV
(13) And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
