4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing.

Abide in Christ Jesus and bear fruit. As a branch that is joined to a new plant takes up all that is in the plant and is nourished in it, so should we who are joined to Christ take up all that is in Him. In Him there is freedom, healing, power, salvation, peace, joy, love and life. As such we are to be partakers of all that is within Him. That is the only way we are fed and thus bear fruit. Life flows from Him to us. Peace flows from Him to us. Love flows from Him to us. Just as the branch will be fed by virtue of staying connected to the vine, all we have to do is stay connected to Christ. We simply receive what He has. We don't work to gain what He has, we simply take it up.. It just flows. Stay connected to the vine.
How do we stay connected to the Vine? His Word, His Spirit, His Truth. As long as we try to stay connected to the world, we will miss out on what the Vine has to offer. You can't be connected to two different 'vines' and expect to bear the same fruit. Be connected to the true Vine. Don't mix it up where you pick from one and the other. Let Jesus Christ be the vine you stay grafted into. And let His Life flow into you and thus bear fruit according to the Vine.
