Discernment is important, even in Christianity which should be a safe haven. One cannot see a tree unless one is aware of the blanketing forest out there which man has created. Comparisons of old and newer manuscripts of the same scripture shows changes thanks to either scribe errors or deliberate manipulation. This was amplified with the addition of punctuation, a concept previously unused in ancient texts. Thankfully, in most cases but not all, in the end the message remains basically the same if scripture is taken as a whole, even if changes were made to make them compatible with a church, rather than making the church compatible with scripture. Knowing which is which is where discernment comes in. It is not the knowledge that changes were made that matters, it is why. WWAD... what would the Adversary do? Fit the church to scripture or scripture to the church?
