We can't stop sinning as our instinctive animal nature of looking out for number one is part of our makeup. That of course was not an issue until we learned of good and evil which then knowingly made our animal nature conflict with the will of God. We now knew we were using our own will and had the power to use it rather than follow God's will (this of course shows we are also capable of controlling ourselves using that same will power). We became aware of our dual nature and as time progressed many even forgot their Godly nature, they being more absorbed in the power of self.
All God ever asked of us from beginning to end of the Bible was/is to put His will ahead of our own will or the will of any other beings, be they of this world or the troublesome Heavenly host. We must simply repent/change our allegiance from anything other than God to God alone, even though we are still aware of the ability to do otherwise. This of course comes about only with an understanding of why we are incapable of correctly governing ourselves in the first place, along with the harm that it causes each other. We must learn to hate our self centered selves and in turn when we change allegiance, the world we have made in our own image will now hate us, but as a result the rewards eventually outweigh the hassles created. Jesus says we will find Him, not among the self-serving such as the wealthy or powerful, but among the oppressed, the poor, the sorrowful, the meek and merciful, and especially among those persecuted, not for religious but for righteousness sake.
When His Kingdom comes, His will will be done in earth as it is in Heaven, not ours. Why fight Him?
