Respect for Dad

1 Timothy 3:4

He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of respect.

The man is the head of the household. So I would like for my husband to lead my household according to the Word of the Lord. As it is said the children should obey my husband out of respect. Now, I like this a lot because in my opinion there are differences between respect, love, and fear.
In a perfect world my children will love and respect my husband as the authoritative figure. They will honor him and behave the way we expect them to. Of course some children have personalities that may not go with my husband’s personality and hopefully that is where I can step in as the partner and help.
But back to the point, I would like for my children to behave out of love for my husband not just out of respect. I have an amazing dad that I love and respect, and cherish. This is all I want for my children. Often parents are hard on their children and scare them into behaviors they consider appropriate. It is important to me that my home be a safe place for open dialogue to explain what is godly behavior and what isn’t, what is acceptable behavior and what isn’t. Now I know my husband wont be perfect, but I pray that my children will be comfortable talking to him about anything and everything.

Dear Lord,
Please give my future husband the strength necessary to be the head of a household and have the love and respect from our children that a father deserves.
Thank you for your blessings.
Amen
