"Rend"
Jimmy Needham
You’ve been tarnished
And you’ve been stained
And all the varnish you’ve used to cover up with is peeling away
Yet even now, return to me with nothing less
Than your wounded, broken heart
And cling to Me, your gracious King
Be shattered glass of empty jars and rend
Rend, rend, rend
Rend your hearts
You’ve been tarnished
And you’ve been stained
And all the varnish you’ve used to cover up with is peeling away
I don’t need a grand display
Show me that your heart has changed
I don’t need a show
Only just to know your own heart breaks

Oh God, I come to You broken inside. You desire my heart. You want for me to come to You with my broken, torn, and split heart so that You can restore me as only You can. No more pretending everything's perfectly fine and that I can do it all on my own. No more keeping You from my broken heart. God, You are so gentle... I can bring my heart to You without fear of it being further damaged. Please God take care of the broken and shattered pieces of my heart, put me back together again... hold my heart close to You and heal it. I'm broken and wide open. I trust that You won't hurt me the way I've been hurt by others... I can always turn to You for constant strength and love.
12 “Yet even now,” declares the LORD,
“return to me with all your heart,
with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
13 and rend your hearts and not your garments.”
Return to the LORD your God,
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
and he relents over disaster.”
