"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing." - JESUS (Matthew 23:37)
When Jesus expressed this, I can only imagine that He was in tears. One thing is sure: He was in deep pain.
He loved His people, Israel, so much, and all that He had always desired from them is that they love Him in return. However, only a small handful of the Israelites loved Him in return and that broke His heart.
Today, Jesus still dreams that people turn to Him and return to Him the love that He gave them first.
I can so feel the pain that Jesus expressed in the above verse. He was almost despairing and pleading with His people to come to Him to receive the love He so wanted to give them!
What's so sad is that Jesus still hurts today and still pleads with every soul that hasn't already done so, to come to Him. He still so desires everyone to come to Him but most people, unfortunately, reject His wonderful love.
A great deal of Jesus' suffering on Earth has been due to the fact that He was rejected by His own and if Jesus still cries today, it's because many still reject Him, whether Hebrew or not.
All are called to follow after Him and to become His friend.
