Random Thoughts of a Grandma

Hello. I am new at this and I had a burden on my heart today and thought that there was no better time than the present to start one of these blogs. Today the matter of Forgiveness or Unforgiveness as it may be, is heavy on my heart. It grieves me to witness just how much unforgiveness seems to be abound in the body of Christ. Why? or rather How? (is that possible?) Shouldn't we as born again believers who understand the sacrifice Jesus made and all that He endured to make that sacrifice so that we may be forgiven of the Father be better at it? Didn't Jesus say that if we don't forgive, our Heavenly Father will not forgive us? Truly that statement was made to those of us who believe? Do we really believe that Jesus will tell us to enter into His rest if we spend a lifetime holding others bound in unforgiveness? Why is it that parents won't forgive children and children won't forgive parents? (I am speaking of those "in the Church." Why is it that we "in the Church" are so easily offended and harden our hearts toward one another over the smallest of things? Didn't Jesus say that those that are well, need no physician? How are we different than the Pharisee, upon seeing a repentant tax collector humbling himself before the Lord, thanks the Lord that he is not like that man? The Pharisee should wish he was like that man, because that man was broken and humbled approaching the Lord with a contrite heart and according to Jesus that man went home justified, while the pious Pharisee was righteous in his own eyes only. Are we righteous in our own eyes because we think all of God's promises belong to us because "we believe"? Doesn't the Bible say that even the demons believe? If we really believed then why are we not doing that which we say we believe? Why are we not demonstrating love, mercy, longsuffering, kindness, patience, goodness toward one another? No wonder why the lost seem to prefer remaining lost! May the Lord have mercy on us! Today, if you are reading this, I don't believe it is by accident or coincidence. Let us invite the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and let us purpose it in our hearts today to allow the Lord to change our hearts in this area and be compassionate towards one another, be patient and forgiving. Let's purpose it in our hearts to show the Jesus we know, to one another. If we have anything against anyone today, let us release them (and ourselves) of the bondage of unforgiveness. Let today be a new day not only for them, but for us in Jesus name. Let us be like our Heavenly Father, whose mercies are new every morning. Always in Him, Connie
