Questions & answers about my time as an atheist.

This is a short blog entry. It includes a post I wrote in reply to some questions. It is about my time as an atheist.

Hey MC, thanks for taking the time to write all that you did. I agree with Rick, I loved it .. :) I just have a couple of things I'd like to know more about, like going from Christian to atheist, how/why did that happen .. Did you really, in your heart, reject Christ

Yes, I rejected Christianity and that implies rejecting the theology surrounding Jesus Christ. I still thought well of Jesus for all sorts of reasons. I ceased to think he was God.
and repudiate any former belief you had in Him

Yes, I stopped believing the message I had previously accepted.
, or even in a "higher power"?

I had no belief in higher powers that were supernatural. "No God, know life. Know God, no life" was a motto I used on occasion.
Assuming you did, how did you get there?

Slippage is the best word to describe the process. Questions about specifics of theology led to doubts and disbelief and that led to more questions, doubts, and disbelief. It didn't take more than a couple of years to transition from faith to unbelief.
Was there some sort of personal tragedy in your life that took you from loving/believing Him, to hating Him, to not believing in Him at all ..

No, there was no personal tragedy. Of course there were good and bad things happening over the years that led to rejection of christianity. There are good and bad things happening now. There was no special bad thing that led to unbelief.
BTW, if any of this is too personal, please don't answer, or don't answer with specifics. I'm just trying to understand.

Thanks!

Yours and His,
David

It is personal, but not so personal that I'll refuse an answer. If I think some question is too personal I'll ignore it. ;)
