I am wondering about the culture of the women. How do they conduct themselves with strangers? Is it a cultural trait to stare at people? It is normal to invite a complete stranger to your house for lunch?
I ask because this happened to me:
I work at a school at a parent whom I've never laid eyes on before yesterday asked me to come to her house for lunch. Well, her son asked, because I suspect she can't speak English. Anyway, he was very insistent about asking. "Please please come for lunch. my mom wants you to come." I turned them down and today the same thing.
But I am totally creeped out by it for a few reasons. 1) I was wearing my resurrection celebration shirt the first time she saw me, so she knows I am Christian, and I'm afraid that might have made her or her husband angry. 2) Strangers don't just invite you to have lunch... Its weird... 3) The mother, father and all 4 kids stare at me without smiling. 4) I just get a funny feeling about the whole thing.
I am not judging them for their beliefs, but I am absolutely freaked out by their actions and I'm wondering if their culture is the reason for it.
