Man’s death begins at life’s first dawn
To suffering and pain
Unless through Christ we’re born again
We walk through life in vain
The seed of death’s through Adam sown
Through disobedient man
Within the flesh when selfish grown
We’ll harvest Satan’s plan
Whilst fools through life may toss and turn
Blind souls will err and stray
Countless still seek from books to learn
Though death’s not far away
Yet every day God hears their call
By night their pitiful cry
“Nothing I’ve done from life to fall
Why am I cursed to die?
Am I to blame for Adam’s deed?
Did I resist God’s will?
Am I to reap from ancient seed?
Paying another’s bill?
Surely there must be some escape
A bending of the rule
When did I cheat, murder or rape?
Why is Heaven so cruel?
But God Himself cries night and day
“Repent and do what’s right
Turn now; my child and walk my Way
Put doubt put fear to flight
Receive by faith your birth anew
Dying to flesh and bone
But not by works you may pursue
But through my Son alone” .....
