Pressing on like Peter

I want to take a look into a few different passages here to show how the apostle Peter continued to grow and press on as a believer in Christ rather than being discouraged and quit.

So many times in our Christian lives we go to a camp, experience a revival, or a experience revelation with God. We look at specific sins and say the we are going to give them up. Eventually, after time we fall right back into the things that we had swore we would no take part in. After committing these sins that we gave up can really take a tole on our growth as a believer in Christ. We think to ourselves that that whole time God used to reveal this to me was for notihing. We believe that we truly cant grow and are ineffective. But i want to show that this is not the case.

The apostle Peter was told by Christ that he would deny him three times and Peter denied that he would deny him. Turns out Jesus was right. Thats a real shocker [insert sarcasm]. Peter denied him three times...
An overview of Luke 2:54-62
-Peter denies Christ three times
-He sins against God
-He acknowledges his sin on behalf of Christ's words (v.61)
-Peter goes and weeps bitterly

So after months and months of walking alongside of Jesus The Christ Peter grows and yet sins.
All growth before these "Particular" sins are NOT lost. He doesnt start over, rather on the contrary he presses on.
In John 21:15-25 Jesus Reinstates Peter.
Though a sinner and denied Christ to the public, Peter is forgiven and CONTINUES to grow.

In Acts 2, Peter preaches and an enormous multitude are saved.
Peter gives us things in 2 Peter 1 that are tremendously important.
[bless and do not curse]"5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins." 2 Peter 1:5-9

In closing, this is the main point that we must come to grip with as a believer in Jesus Christ.

Do not reflect on past sins, PRESS ONWARD for the Glory of Christ!
