Premeditation...A good thing?

Premeditate is a heck of a word in the legal system. In prison, there are several individuals who have pre-meditated acts. I have heard this word used many times and it’s never in a good context. An inmate is said to be pre-meditated when he plays the angles, meaning: what angle does this person take to accomplish their “already thought out” results. I’ve witnessed inmates attempt to become friends with other inmates based on their release date, with the only desired outcome to get the personal belongings of the inmate who is leaving. These items are usually left behind for inmates in your circle. Such an act takes a week and most of the time a few weeks to plot out. A lot of the time, actions that are previously considered usually have a devious desire.
This really got me thinking about the determination of people when we want something in the end. The amount of time, energy, and thoughts spent to arrange in advance a gain for ourselves. Usually that is a selfish ambition. On so many levels, we attempt to premeditate our lives, but all for what? If we took the same firmness of purpose and applied them inside God’s will, how much more would be accomplish? (For the good!)
I know as I watch certain behaviors in prison that I am learning a lot about human nature. When our minds are really set on something, we go through deliberate intent to establish such plans.
I am convinced as I move forward that it is possible to be a positive, pre-meditated person. What I plan, ponder, or deliberate for God’s purpose will direct me on the right path, helping me to reach the end result: the plans of our lives took forethought. God takes good pleasure with the fulfillment of our Christ-like premeditated intents under His pre-destined purpose.
