Gracious heavenly Father
Who gave Your Son for us
sometimes I say, "Why bother,
when the world treats me like it does?"
Yet during the pre-dawn hour
in the quiet time such as now
I'm apt to know Your Power
as the Comforter arrives, somehow.
Then just a few moments after
night’s tranquility turns to joy
though tearful, my heart has laughter
that no darkness can ever destroy.
I’ve learned as far as people go
that they quite often derail me
and some loved ones die, still I know
the One who will never fail me.
Dear God, what I've learned about You
in the midst of life’s uncertainty
Is that You never change, and are True
yesterday, today, and through eternity.
Just remembering this adds confidence
that I’d never known prior to
that day when I offered repentance
to the Saviour, pristine as sky-blue.
And in this pre-dawn moment
I can most honestly confess
that in supplication I repent
of any sins committed under duress.
God, the Bible says that it's You I love
because You originally loved me
yet I cherish that gentle Voice like a Dove
in the Lord Jesus, who has set me free!
