POW's in my family

Everyone who knows me at all, knows my pre-occupation with prison camps. Particularly those of WW1 and WW2. I am also concerned with Christians being persecuted and put in prison today.....as this stuff STILL goes on.

My Great-grandfather was taken POW in WW1. I don't know a whole lot about this, I am doing research. From what I understand, he was in Stargard. His name is Harvey Phipps.

My great-uncle, Harvey Phipps, Jr., was taken POW in WW2. His plane went down on his 9th (i believe it was his ninth) mission.

A lot of this stuff is not taught to people of my generation and I think it's tragic. I have news articles and artifacts that are directly from these camps, and experiences of my great-grandpa and great-uncle.

Today, I was searching, like always....and I found a link that told me a lot of details. I thought I would put it here....to spread the history to people who don't know.

Death March and Research of WWII B-24 POW Stalag Lufts of WW2

My great-uncle survived.....and returned home to his family. He died in 1988. He is from Speedway, IN.

My great-grandpa survived as well. I really need to research our paper clippings and stuff again. I know one of them was in a place called Stargard. We have a ring, looks like a spoon ring that says Stargard, or Stargardt or Stargart on it. I cant remember the spelling. My sister has it right now. She is going to give it to me though.

Maybe I'll put some of our clippings on here.
