F O R E V E R . . .
Today, while praying, I came across these words by Thomas Brooks:
Oh let him for ever lie betwixt our breasts, [Song of Solomon] i. 13, who hath left his Father's bosom for a time, that he might be embosomed by us for ever.
The passage containing the quote pertains to loving the Lord above all, no matter who you love in the world-

These lines gave me a deep feeling of devotion and longing for my Lord. I focused my mind upon His beautiful head, bleeding upon the Cross, and I said to Him:
Forever, Lord, forever.
That word, forever, has always had some special sweetness for me. The eternity of love, the blessed happiness of knowing that the One who loves me will be with me endlessly, makes me wish I could just touch His blessed body and adore Him.
As I whispered to my all-loving Jesus, "Forever," I couldn't exactly name what was in my heart. Happiness, yes, but that's hard to define. Love, of course- I was talking to my Jesus!- but it would take an eternity to try to explain what love is- only our Lord really knows.
Forever. "Let Him forever lie [between] our breasts (Songs 1:13)". There would be no greater joy than to open our hearts and say, "O Lord, welcome. Reign in me always." He is the rightful King of our hearts. For Him to take His throne in our souls- "Christ liveth in me"- would be not only to show love for the One who is Love but also for others, helping, serving, healing, like our blessed, blessed Jesus helped, served, and healed out of His infinite love. If we let Him live in our hearts forever, we open the way for Him to let us love Him and others and to thus be deserving of His love for us. I prayed today as I looked upon Jesus in my heart that He would make my heart His home. Forever. I suppose- I don't really know what I prayed, I just let my lovely Lord read my heart- that I begged Him not to take Himself from me, even though, in the rush of the day, I may at times forget Him- Forgive me I pray, heavenly Love.
"[Jesus] hath left His Father's bosom for a time, that He may be embosomed by us for ever." Our dearly adored Savior was in the Heart of the Father, which I don't think we can understand fully until we enter Life eternal. In all His heavenly glory He existed, until, out of love, He came to this world- being born in purity, living in exemplary love and kindness, and dying for us. Thirty-three years He lived in this world of human pain and suffering before returning to His Father- time which seems as nothing compared to His everlasting "lovely dwelling-place" in which He lived since the beginning of eternity and in which He (and we, together with Him!) will live forever.
Jesus Christ our Love lives within our hearts and we within His. He left His Father's beautiful Heart to bring us to Him. Being embosomed by us forever- I prayed that I would never lose Him, but would have His love with me always. He is mine, He is yours. He belongs to us as we belong to Him- forever. Forever, meaning He will take us to the Life that never ends, and we will rest eternally in His love. Forever, meaning that all relationships, though meant to last, may sometimes end, our love with Him will never fade.
Brothers and sisters disown each other. Jesus is your brother forever.
Husbands and wives separate. Jesus is your lover always.
Father and mother leave, separate, neglect, and disagree. Jesus is the Father of your heart and loves you perfectly.
Friends may lose touch- but Jesus is always there. He is your best Friend.
Jesus is always with us- and even though this life will end, the one He has bought for us with His sweet blood will last forever. The Imitation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus offers a beautiful description of this Life- we will always hanker and yearn to love Jesus, and yet be always blessed in adoring Him. We will repose upon His Heart and melt in His love without end.
I hold Jesus in my bosom and I pray He holds me in His.
May we all embosom our Lord and find ourselves safe in His arms and heart.
I love my sweet Lord. Jesus I love and adore You forever. I need You with me always. Amen and Alleluia.
O most pure springs of life- beloved wounds on the body of our Lord, be to us a home, a haven, a taste of the forever that You promise. And you, Blood, beautiful, sweet Blood that gave life to the Lifegiver, cover us with the grace and the love of our Jesus.
Come, Lord Jesus. Maranatha, maranatha I pray.
