Jesus represented a counter-culture to the world and governance of man. His return would abolish the systems of man. The Gentile church (regardless of who wants to lay claim to the title) rejected it and returned the church to the governance and institutions of man, built upon the traditions of man. They modelled it upon them. Those of the world only know the ways of the worldly. Better in their minds to build a false kingdom here than wait for the real one as promised. More materially fruitful also. A new political power was created to join the fray. Ironically as a result it created the same governance as seen in the Temple which also catered to the governance of man.
