PEACE
Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30
Before I became a Christian, I worried about everything imaginable. I worried about what would happen if one of my parents had cancer, what would happen to me if I broke my leg, what my mom would go through if my dad died. I was almost constantly in a state of anxiety over the safety of my family & how any one of them would deal with something happening to one of the others. The list goes on & on. One of the first things I experienced when I became a Christian was a feeling of peace because I could finally let go of all those worries –because the burden was given to Jesus. It was very freeing. We are robbed of the peace Jesus intends for us when we hold on to our burdens. True peace happens only when we totally give up everything to Jesus. “Everything” means more than just the burdens we carry. It means completely giving all aspects of our lives to Jesus – even those areas & things that we want to keep control of.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to show you what you have retained control of in your life, and ask that he help you to willingly give it over to Jesus. Ask him to give you the peace that surpasses understanding.
