Mankind, ever since the Garden, has preferred to make everything about self... my way, my wants, my will. Jesus came to teach us about and proclaim the Kingdom of God. His world and governance, the good news (gospel) of the Kingdom, God's will. Man wants to ignore even that and make it about ourselves, our salvation, and follow a different gospel that makes it all about us. There is no salvation for those who keep thinking self rather than the will and Kingdom of God. It got us kicked out of the Garden and it will prevent entry into the Kingdom.
